Can One Pray to Kala Bhairava and Hanuman Both as They are Incarnations of Lord Shiva?

Is it possible to pray to both Kala Bhairava and Hanuman? Some might think praying to both would be a distraction, but that’s not necessarily the case. Both deities represent different aspects of Lord Shiva and can be worshipped in their respective forms.

Praying to Both as Veer Gods

Yes, you can pray to both Kala Bhairava and Hanuman, as they are revered veer gods who protect and adorn Ma Devi. Both are the incarnations of Lord Shiva. I often pray to the Prasanna Hanuman form, who is in the form of Ram Bakti, with the mantra: “aum anjanayaaya vidmahe vaayu putraaya deemahi tanno hanumat prachodayaaat” and the Naam mantra: “aum hanumate namah.” For the powerful Shiva avatar, Bhaairava, I pray to the Vatuka form, which is equally powerful as Kaal Bhaairava but more suitable for grahastas. The mantra for Bhaairava of the Vatuka form is: “aum adipurushaaya vatukaaya vidmahee sarva Loka vijayaaya deemahi tanno vatuka prachoodayat” and the Naam Jaap is: “aum vatuka Bhairavaaya namah.”

It's advisable not to engage in sadhanas of Bhaairava in the Kaal Bhaairava form or Hanuman in the Panchamukhi Hanuman form, as they are too fierce and can be handled only with proper guru initiation. Pray to Hanuman as Bakti and Bhaairava as Vatuka.

Worshipping Both Deities

Both deities represent the two sides of a coin – Lord Shiva and his most powerful avatars, Bhaairava and Hanuman. Worshiping one of them can bring immense blessings. Currently, I worship one deity, but I plan to include both in my daily prayers, making them part of my Nitya Puja.

If you're talking about just praying – not performing sadhana – you can pray to any form you desire. However, if you have started sadhana with Hanumanji in his normal form, it is different. The Panchamukhi Hanuman, while still a form of Lord Hanuman, is considered fierce and powerful in all aspects. Similarly, Kalabhairava, being the most fierce form of Bhaairava, is best approached after gaining some experience with other forms of the deity through proper initiation.

In conclusion, both deities can be worshipped, but it's essential to approach them with the right guidance and understanding to ensure spiritual growth and well-being.
