What do you want to say on Diwali

Diwali, the most significant festival in Hinduism, marks the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. It is during this time that people engage in shopping, lighting lamps, and gathering with loved ones. The Mewar prince, Lakshayraj Singh, also commemorated this tradition by visiting a roadside stall to procure Deepak. He kindly asked an elderly woman for a Deepak so he could celebrate Diwali. This simple act underscores the essence of sharing happiness.

On this special occasion, I wish to encourage everyone to purchase their Diwali needs from such local, personal shops. By doing so, they are not only adding to their joy but also ensuring small vendors can participate in the joy of Diwali as well. Happy Diwali to all!

A Diwali Away from Home

This Diwali marks the third year since I've been apart from my family. A staggering 1,300 kilometers separates us, and I find myself missing the unique charm and warmth of our shared Diwali celebrations. I miss lighting up diyas, sharing in the joy of cleaning my home with family, praying together, singing bhajans, and the delightful pinnacle of teaching my sister how to light firecrackers. The festive meal is joyful, but once it's over, there's no more to anticipate, leaving a void in my heart.

Even the simple instructions from my mother about where to place dumplings first before lighting fireworks feel distant. These little moments hold immense value, and I only realize their significance when I am away from them. Celebrating Diwali alone is a stark reminder of my separation from my family. The absence of glowing diyas and the crackling firecrackers is a poignant reminder of the distance that divides us.

During this Diwali, I do not see diyas burning or firecrackers lighting up, only my heart burning with the intensity of longing for my family. May your Diwali, however you celebrate it, spread love, warmth, and happiness across the miles that separate us.
