Empowering India’s Youth: The Launch of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 3.0

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 3.0 with the intention of providing India’s youth with employable skills. What is PMKVY 3.0?

PMKVY 3.0 was officially launched in 717 districts across 28 States and eight Union Territories, aiming to support the vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-reliant India). The new program will be implemented in a decentralized manner, with more responsibilities and support provided by the States and District administrations.

The initiative includes the empanelment of 729 Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs), which, along with non-PMKK training centers and more than 200 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) under 'Skill India', will deliver training under PMKVY 3.0. The scheme envisages training eight lakh candidates over a period of 2020-2021, with a funding outlay of Rs. 948.90 crore. Key features of PMKVY 3.0 include:
