For those who are not comfortable driving themselves, it’s easy to book a guided tour that ensures a smooth ascent and provides valuable insights along the way.

Engaging with the Hill Tribe Communities

Doi Inthanon offers a spectrum of trekking paths for adventure enthusiasts. Some sections require the assistance of local guides, which not only help in preserving the delicate ecosystem but also support the livelihoods of the indigenous hill tribe communities that inhabit the mountain. When not trekking, these communities tend to their fields, growing vegetables and flowers which they sell in local markets in Chiang Mai.

During the rainy season, from around May/June until the end of October, visitors should check if the waterfalls are accessible, as they may be closed due to heavy rain. Other must-sees include the Royal Pagodas Royal Project Gardens and Restaurant and the Kew Mae Pan trail.

While we enjoy the energy and excitement of Chiang Mai and Bangkok, another charming destination is the laid-back city of Pai in Mae Hong Son Province. Nestled in a lush valley surrounded by mountains, Pai offers a peaceful retreat away from the more crowded cities. Its unique geography and diverse scenery make it a tranquil oasis in the north of Thailand.

Beyond Bangkok and Phuket, there are an array of lesser-known but equally beautiful destinations in the southern parts of Thailand. The Muslim South: In contrast to the Buddhist north, the largely Muslim south of Thailand is notably more tolerant and open-minded towards foreign visitors (farangs).
