Exploring the Last Human on Earth: The Isolation and Redemption

Imagine the quiet solitude, the endless silence filling the air. The thought of being the last human on Earth is both a haunting and surreal experience. This article delves into the psychological and spiritual states one might experience in such a lonely existence, as well as the wisdom offered by ancient Vedic teachings.

Isolation and Loneliness

The realization that one is the last human on Earth can be a source of profound confusion, worry, and loneliness. The human psyche thrives on social interaction and connection, and the absence of these can lead to a temporary state of panic. However, as one might reflect on the implications of this isolation, the quiet solitude can become a space for contemplation and introspection.

Falling Phone Bills and Surrendering to the Supernatural

In such a deserted world, one might sarcastically reflect on the benefits of being alone. The thought of not paying for phone bills anymore can offer a fleeting sense of relief. However, the profound loneliness and the realisation that one has lost everything might culminate in a state of surrender to the supernatural, often referred to as the 'Super-soul' in spiritual texts.

From a spiritual perspective, one might draw comfort from the understanding that even if one is the last human, the supreme consciousness or the 'Super-soul' remains present. This concept can be explored through the Vedic teachings of Krishna and the wisdom of Srila Prabhupada, who explains the role of the Supreme Lord in the hearts of all beings.

The Teachings of Krishna and Srila Prabhupada

Quoted from the Bhagavad Gita and other Vedic texts:

"I am seated in everyones heart and from Me come remembrance, knowledge, and forgetfulness. By all the Vedas I am to be known. Indeed, I am the compiler of Vedanta and I am the knower of the Vedas." – Bhagavad Gita 15.15

Further explained by Srila Prabhupada:

The Supreme Lord is situated as Paramatma in every individual heart and it is from Him that all activities are initiated. The living entity forgets everything of his past life but he has to act according to the direction of the Supreme Lord who is witness to all his work.

Understanding the Role of the Supreme Lord

The teachings convey that the Supreme Lord is not only all-pervasive but also localized in every individual heart. He awards the different fruitive results, and it is through Him that people can understand and experience the Vedas. The Vedas provide direction to properly mold one's life and come back to Godhead.

According to Srila Prabhupada, the living entity forgets as soon as he quits his present body, but he begins his work again initiated by the Supreme Lord. Although he forgets the Lord, He gives him the intelligence to renew his work where he ended his last life.

The Vinuta Pravista (the Supreme Lord being present in every heart) is a concept that reaffirms the idea that the Supreme Lord is the one who gives the living entity the opportunity to understand Vedas. If one is serious to understand the Vedic knowledge, Krishna gives the required intelligence.

The Purpose of Vedic Literature

The Vedic literature confirms the need for understanding Krishna, and the purpose of the Vedas is to understand Him. The ultimate goal is the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

The verse 'tat tu samanvayat' (tat— between the living entity and the Supreme Personality of Godhead; tu— therefore; samanvayat— the meshing together of cause and effect; samanvayaih— by contiguous understanding; pravayo— approach naturally; iti— thus) clearly defines the purpose of the Vedas, the understanding of the Vedas, and the goal of the Vedas. One can attain perfection by understanding Vedic literature and one can understand his relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead by performing the different processes.

This understanding brings a sense of purpose and direction to the individual in isolation, reminding them that they are not truly alone in the cosmic scheme of existence.
