Why Family is the Pillar of Love and Lifelong Support

People opt to start a family for various reasons, such as a deep sense of purpose, the desire to reproduce and pass on DNA, or simply a feeling of love and comfort. However, some individuals choose not to have a family, for one reason or another. In this personal account, I will delve into why having a family is crucial for my life and explore the role of family in providing lifelong support and love.

My Journey and the Impact of Family

My personal life has been a challenging one, and I have had to abandon many dreams along the way. Since the past 10-12 years, my career has been marked by the “Killing of dreams”. Despite the struggles, my family has been the driving force that keeps me going and happy.

Everyday Celebrations and Moments of Joy

Just as my professional life has seen its share of highs and lows, so has the picture of my family. Here’s a glimpse of the joy and daily celebrations:

Monday: Dad receives his transfer order for a home posting. Tuesday: A younger brother cracks Google. Wednesday: The eldest sister gets a promotion at work. Thursday: Brother-in-law (my sister’s husband) who is a doctor cracks PLAB-1 (Postgraduate Medical Assessment Board). Friday: Both the sister and brother-in-law become parents.

These moments, however, are not just confined to these days. Even on weekends, we gather to play cards, watch movies, and laugh together. And let me share a personal anecdote – even at the age of 27, I still find it comforting to sleep in my mom’s arms, a sign of how deeply I am attached to my family.

The Power of Family During Hard Times

Recently, my younger brother’s birthday was celebrated with a call. He was dressed up but sitting alone in a café, waiting for his coffee. He was embarrassed about celebrating his birthday alone and admitted that everyone was busy. However, as a family, we jumped on the call with his cousins to fill the void of his loneliness.

Shared Moments and Cherished Memories

We laughed, celebrated, shared stories, and made memories. As the eight of us talked and sang ‘Happy Birthday,’ the café filled with the joyful noise of our voices. My brother’s embarrassment turned into a moment of shared love and support.

For many, family is a blessing. For those fortunate enough to have such a support system, they understand the value of always having a family by their side. No matter the challenges, family is there, even without a reason.

Conclusion

In conclusion, family is not just about blood relations; it is about the love, support, and shared moments that stay with us through thick and thin. If you are lucky enough to have a family, cherish them, because they are what truly make life worth living.
