Why I Am Special to My Friends

Thanks for the A2A. I think the traits that make me special to my friends are steadfastness, humor, independence, a strong intellect, and loyalty. These are just guesses, really. I haven't taken much time to think about it, as it's difficult to pinpoint exactly what one feels when they view themselves from an outsider's perspective.

Genuineness or sincerity is another quality that my friends may appreciate. One of my friends once told me that I brought her peace. That was a particularly meaningful comment, as I strive to apply the same principle of peace to my interactions with others. My ex-husband also remarked that I was his best friend, a compliment that resonated because he was a real achiever in the things he loved to do.

I listen well and care about people deeply, but perhaps not perfectly. These qualities might be what makes me stand out to my friends. Whether it's a friend, someone I met online, or a passerby, my hope is to bring a little light and inspire hope in their lives. In doing so, I hope to leave an imprint on their lives, making us both better people because of our shared experiences.

Humor is a significant part of my interactions, and it's a quality that my friends definitely appreciate. As I mentioned in your poem, I always have a funny story. These unexpected events and stories entertain my friends, who often look for moments of levity. For instance, one time I was walking to a Super Bowl party carrying chicken wings, dip, and a special cupcake for the hostess. Unfortunately, the Carolina cupcake rolled out of the bag, and a car ran over it. The driver stopped, and I picked up the cupcake in its plastic cover, flattened like a fritter. I decided to joke with the driver: 'No worries, but I hope this isn't a bad omen for Carolina.'
